What is the art of Wing Chun
Wing Chun, or Ving Tsun, is a relatively recent martial art, created some 450 years ago. It is inspired by several Shaolin styles, aiming for greater efficiency and directionality.
Its key principles include economy of movement and energy, favouring fluid, relaxed movements that culminate in an explosion of speed.
Rather than blocking, the system favours defection, combining simultaneous defence and attack. This approach makes it particularly effective against stronger or larger opponents.
Protect your centre line with a robust, methodical defence, while launching a simultaneous, strategic attack on the opponent's centre line.
Maintain a well-anchored, fluid structure capable of compromising the opponent's structure, while maintaining consistency and strategic efficiency.
Modify the direction, method, target and sequence of attacks, while redirecting offensives and disrupting the opponent's structure.
There are a total of six forms: three open-hand forms, one on the "wooden dummy" (Muk Yang Jong) and two traditional forms with weapons.
There are also a number of very specific exercises, including sticky hands (Chi Sau), which serve greatly to develop the effectiveness of defence and offence.
Wing Chun is an extremely effective method of self-defence, but learning this special martial art has many other benefits.
Relaxation
Posture correction
Improves balance
Improves reflexes
Improves muscle efficiency
Mental well-being
Since childhood, he has had a deep admiration for martial arts, captivated by the TV series "Kung Fu" starring David Carradine, a role originally intended for Bruce Lee.
It was only later in life, after exploring various forms of karate and Taoist Tai Chi, that his passion for Wing Chun truly blossomed. In addition to opening & operating Dragon Kung Fu in 2019, Sifu Dan also teaches self defense classes at the local women's shelter
Dragon Kung-fu is the best martial arts school with an open-minded concept. We practice traditional kung fu while adapting to modern real-life confrontations. Sifu Dan is an excellent teacher with a good sense of humor. He shows us how to defend ourselves effectively and how to tame our ego to be the best version of ourselves! Thank you Sifu!

When I started training with Sifu Dan at Dragon Kung Fu, I had just finished a detox. I was looking for a way out and a new me, because the old me was angry, aggressive and very anxious about life in general. Basically, I didn't have any self-confidence.
Since I started, I've been taught to defend myself in the event of a sudden attack, but also to avoid them. You learn to respect others and yourself, to assert yourself in a healthy, cooperative environment and to share your knowledge without fear of judgment.
The truth is, joining the Dragon Kung Fu family has been the best decision of my life. I feel more confident in my ability to protect myself and my family. The impact it has had on my life is so great that it's hard to explain. Thank you for everything Sifu!

My experience at Dragon Kung Fu has been nothing short of incredible. As a newcomer to the world of Kung Fu, I was apprehensive at first, but the warm and welcoming atmosphere put me at ease from day one.
Sifu Danny is a true master of his craft. His in-depth knowledge and passion for Wing Chun shines through in every class. They break down complex techniques into manageable steps, ensuring that even beginners like me can grasp the fundamentals. His patience and willingness to provide individual guidance create a fantastic learning environment.
What sets Dragon Kung Fu apart is that we teach at our own pace and without pressure. The school is dedicated to traditional techniques, but without taking itself too seriously. The camaraderie among Dragon Kung Fu students is comforting. Whether you're new or advanced, you're welcomed into a close-knit family that supports and uplifts each other. It's inspiring to see other students progress and succeed, creating an environment that motivates everyone to excel.
My journey has been transformative. Not only do I feel fitter as a result of practicing Wing Chun, but I've also noticed an improvement in my concentration.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a Wing Chun school that values tradition and promotes personal growth, Dragon Kung Fu is the place to be. A wonderful Sifu and supportive family create an environment conducive to rapid improvement. I highly recommend Dragon Kung Fu to anyone looking to embark on a meaningful journey in the martial arts.

Following an assault, it was suggested that I take self-defence classes. Being a 60-year-old woman, 4'-9", 75 lbs I was very skeptical at first, but Wing Chun turned out to be the best self-defence class for me. I feel much more confident in myself, because I didn't learn how to fight, I learned how to defend myself! We have a dynamic group where knowledge of each other is shared with everyone. It's a great learning atmosphere and we have a great teacher!
